the Porche day.

All the posts today will be about the Porche cars co.

2010 Porsche Panamera by Project Kahn

Everyone knows that Project Kahn is all about discreet, but styled tuning. And their latest package offered for the Porsche Panamera is no exception. Well, except for the fact that they use pretty much the same technique as they did on the Porsche Cayenne back in May, but hey, whatever works.

Starting off the twin package is a new set of wheels and a triple exhaust integrated in the rear outlets. The tuner also hooked up the Panamera with a modest body kit and a few interior modifications in which details have not been given. Being that Project Kahn doesn’t usually mess with the engine, we’re not surprised to see that the Panamera’s 500hp has not been touched. They just threw in some extra pieces and painted the exterior black to make this Panamera come to life. And with a top speed of 189 mph (if you opt for the Sport package) who could ask for more from a luxury sedan?

2010 Porsche Panamera by WheelsBoutique

Let’s face it, the Porsche Panamera has been a real hit among tuners. And why shouldn’t it be? Anyone would want to make an improvement on a near perfect car, and we’ve seen all of the improvements imaginable. From engine updates to exterior and interior modifications and everything in between, there has not been one thing that hasn’t been done to this car. But instead of going completely over the top to make their tuning package stand out, WheelsBoutique have opted for a more subtle tunification. No, that’s not a word, but we’re still using it.

They started off with a Speed Art full body kit that consists of a front spoiler, new side skirts, and a rear spoiler, and then continued on to add H&R lowering springs. The only other additions made to the vehicle were that glossy black exterior paint and new H&R 22" wheels 187 Edition wrapped in Pirelli tires. Not much else to report, but it doesn’t make a difference; this tuning kit for the Porsche Panamera is a hit shot outside of the park.

2010 Porsche 911 Speedster

There seems to be a lot of activity going on in Stuttgart as Porsche has been in the center of numerous rumors with regards to a number of vehicles that are in the pipeline for release.

A few days ago, we touched on the company already preparing a Porsche GT3 RS Limited Edition. Now, Porsche has decided to do a pre-emptive strike by releasing the first official details of the long-awaited Porsche 911 Speedster based on the current 997 a week before its scheduled appearance at the Paris Motor Show.

It’s been a while since Porsche has come out with a 911 Speedster – the early nineties, if you can believe that – so while it’s a little surprising that the brand only decided to come out with a successor now, it’s a surprise that we’re all happy to find out especially when you consider that the last Speedster was one of the most desirable Porsches of that generation.

For this new 911 Speedster, the convertible sports car carrying an aerodynamic body kit package, tinted headlights, black accents, a soft-top cover, a special front apron, specific sideskirts, a distinct rear apron, and a choice of two paint options: Carrera White and Pure Blue.

2010 Porsche Panamera S Racecar by N.Technology

The first version of N.Technology’s Porsche Panamera S race car was unveiled back in June when the car was taken out testing before its official debut at the Superstars Series set for the Hockenheim ring in Germany. Satisfied with the results, but thinking they needed to be better, N.Technology went back and created a second version which will be debuted this weekend - September 18th-19th - at the Paul Ricard circuit in France. The featured racecar will have be sporting brand new livery as a result of their partnership with Zegg & Ceriati – a prestigious company of watches and jewelery.

"After the success of Mugello, our target at Paul Ricard is even more difficult: confirm N.Technology at the top, despite stronger competitors. In the last weeks, we have finished the construction of the second car on which are present all the updates and developments studied by N.Technology engineers in view of the Paul Ricard and following events of Superstars International Series. Above all, we’re really excited to unveil the new and unique livery of the car thanks to the partnership with Zegg & Cerlati, friends and owners of the prestigious company of watches and jewelry."

2011 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS

Porsche has unveiled today details on the most powerful Carrera in the line-up: the Carrera GTS, offered in both coupe and convertible versions. The car will make its world debut at the Paris Motor Show in early October.

The new Carerra GTS is powered by a 3.8-liter flat engine delivering 408 HP and 420 NM of torque. The sprint from 0 to 60 mph is made in 4.2 seconds for a GTS Coupe with PDK and a Sport Chrono Package Plus in Sport Plus mode and top speed goes up to 190 mph.

The GTS version is distinguished by a SportDesign front apron with spoiler edge, painted in black, special side skirts, also in black, and the Carrera GTS logotype on doors and rear lid, in black or silver depending on the body color. The interior gets black Alcantara and high quality materials on the new three-spoke SportDesign steering wheel and on the gear and handbrake levers.

2010 Porsche 996/997 "Metamorphosis" by Prior Design

If you own a Porsche 996, but you’re dreaming for a 997, Prior Design is offering up the very solution to your dilemma: the Metamorphosis package that will make your 996 look like a 997.

The aesthetic package includes a new front bumper with large air intake vents, a discreet spoiler lip, a completely new PD3 bumper which houses an integrated sports exhaust system exclusive to Prior Design, and a curved set of side skirts that make the silhouette appear lowered from the side.

Once Prior Design finished up their alterations on the exterior of the Porsche, they moved on to the chassis. The chassis of the Porsche can be lowered by 30mm which, in turn, lowers the center of gravity. This chassis lowering system is exclusive to Prior Design and improves the handling characteristics of the 911. As the finishing touch to the sports car, Prior Design also fitted segmented wheels of the Prior Design forge and, according to customer specifications, classy rims that can be manufactured in any size.

We can say we are surprised that the engine for this Stuttgart Stud has been completely ignored, but engine modification is not something we have come to expect from Prior Design. They didn’t boost the power of the Porsche 911 GT3 when they played up with its characteristics with their PD3 package either. They also didn’t increase power for the Mercedes E-Class, Ford Mustang, or Audi R8 that they’ve tuned up so far this year. We do love a good power boost, but if we were to pick a car that didn’t need the extra attention in that department, one of our picks would be the Porsche.

2010 Porsche 997 Turbo RM580 by RENM

Not long after the announcement of the Enigma tuning kit for the award winning Audi R8 V10, Australian tuner RENM has also released details on a new RM580 tuning kit based on the Porsche 997 Turbo. The package comes with two stages of power upgrades that lead the sports car to a total output of 580 HP (up from the standard 500 HP) and 800 NM of torque. This power increase translates into a 0-60mph sprint in 3.1 seconds and a top speed of 201 mph (an increase of 7 mph compared to the standard 997 Turbo that can hit a top speed of 194 mph).

The RM580 package includes a new exhaust system made from T309 stainless steel, with sports catalytic converters, various suspension kits that lower ride and improve handling, and a set of three piece forged wheels with titanium fasteners. On the interior, the tuner opted for carbon fiber inserts and a revised steering wheel.

Although this may be a more complete package for the Porsche 997 Turbo, it would be quite interesting to compare numbers with the new aerodynamic package provided by Vorsteiner that includes an art dry carbon fiber vacuum technology. This technology allows for a stronger and stiffer bodykit that is also 40% lighter than the components used in the standard model. Unfortunately, Vorsteiner has not released the Porsche’s new performance numbers yet, so this will be a comparison that we will have to wait to see.

2010 Porsche Cayenne Diesel by RUF

If you want your Porsche to be tweaked to its maximum capacity, many would automatically check out RUF. This German tuner specializes in all things Porsche and are known to refine and enhance Porsche’s models better than most. Their most recent concoction is a tuning package for the Porsche Cayenne Diesel. This new kit is available in two upgrade versions with a max output of 310 HP (from a standard 240 HP). The package can be applied to the Cayenne version powered by direct-injected 3.0 liter V6 turbo engine mated to eight-speed Tiptronic S transmission.

In the first package called the Upgrade One, the Cayenne Diesel’s performance is increased to 288 hp with a peak torque of 580 NM. It includes the optimization of the electronic engine management system and is priced at 3,850 € plus VAT. In the second package, Upgrade 2, the power boost is taken to an awesome 310 HP and a peak torque of 630 NM. This upgrade includes a modified turbocharger and the optimization of the engine management system and is priced at 7,300 € plus VAT.

We enjoy a good power boost just as much, if not more, than anyone, but a couple of exterior modifications would have been nice to see on the Porsche. RUF has decided against those types of upgrades at this point, but we are hoping they will add a bit of style to this package at some point.
