2011 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe

After showing the world what a CTS Coupe could look like, the next logical step for the Cadillac family was to add a factory tuned V-Series version of the new Coupe the American luxury automaker’s range, the best part is that it will be unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show. According to GM, the CTS-V Coupe will go on sale in the summer of 2010 and will be the last version in the CTS lineup with no convertible model currently scheduled for production.

Just like the award winning Cadillac CTS-V, the Coupe is powered by an LSA 6.2 Liter supercharged Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 V8 that makes a maximum output of 556 HP and 551 lb-ft of torque and is mated to either a Tremec TR6060 six speed manual with a twin plate clutch to handle the extra horse power or a Hydra-Matic 6L90 six speed automatic complete with paddle shifters on the steering wheel that allow you to push button your way from 0 to 60 MPH in only 3.9 seconds.

The exterior of this sporty coupe features a modified front grill that essentially doubles the CTS’s air intake volume as well as a raised center section in the hood to provide room for the blower that eventually spits spent gasses out of a unique twin tipped center exit exhaust. However the CTS-V Coupe is capped off by the 19 inch cast aluminum alloys that are available in either painted or polished finishes and wrapped with a set of sticky Michelin Pilot Sport 2 performance tires, all housing a monstrous set of Brembo brake calipers. We just hope they have enough spare parts left over to make a couple CTS-V Sport Wagons.

New Cadillac XTS Platinum Concept Car 2010

Cadillac unveiled the XTS Platinum Concept, a preview of future premium American elegance at the most appropriate place on the planet, the 2010 Detroit Auto Show. A while back we reported that the upscale arm of General Motors was preparing a new full size stretched wheelbase luxury sedan called XTS. The new concept is a big part of GM’s future plans and is a bold statement from a domestic automaker that they can confidently compete with the best luxury car builders from around the world; makes like BMW, Audi and Lexus. After all it does have Platinum in the name.

Drawing inspiration from the Cadillac Sixteen concept, the XTS concept’s exterior is highlighted by Cadillac’s Art and Science design language with features like vertical headlamps and taillights packed with LEDs and integrated light pipes that make for rich detail without being overbearing despite sitting on a set of 20 inch eleven spoke rims. Based on the Platinum concept’s dimensions, the XTS squeezes into the lineup between the current Cadillac STS and DTS, making it an excellent candidate to take on the A7 with its flowing fastback design and signature Cadillac chrome grill. The XTS concept is fitted luxurious leather wrapped interior full of warm tones and television sets that takes its inspiration from the intricate layering of an orchid’s petals and uses Organic Light Emitting Diode (O-LED) displays as a nod to the future as opposed to traditional gauges.

Cadillac made sure to incorporate a little green into their big black luxury concept, so aside from the glowing blue lams and long body body lines that give the car a dominating presence, the XTS also features a plug in hybrid propulsion system. Under the Platinum’s sheet metal lies a 3.6 Liter V6 gas burning power plant that makes a total of 350 HP and 295 lb-ft of torque combined with electric assistance in the form of a liquid cooled lithium ion pack, the same unit that will be found in the Chevy Volt.

2010 Cadillac SRX

The Cadillac SRX was unveiled at the 2009 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, and is going on sale starting at $33,330 for the base 3.0 Liter V6 powered front wheel drive version and climbs all the way up to $51,360 for the 2.8 Liter six cylinder Turbo Premium version. As the Cadillac of crossovers enters its second generation, completely redesigned SRX delivers a dynamic alternative in terms of visual appeal and driving character to ordinary CUVs with its downsized fuel efficient gas burning engines. The SRX comes standard with a front wheel drive layout and is available with all wheel drive as an option. The Cadillac crossover is built atop a version of General Motors’ Theta platform that is also used for the new Chevrolet Equinox and the Epsilon II platform that is also used for the European Opel Insignia.

The 2010 Cadillac SRX is powered by a choice of two six cylinder power plants, both new to the luxury arm of GM. The standard offering is a 3.0 Liter unit that produces 260 HP and the optional 2.8 Liter turbocharged mill makes a maximum output of 300 HP and thanks to direct gasoline injection reduces emissions by about a quarter. The engines are mated to a Hydra-Matic 6T70 six speed automatic transmission that helps saving fuel by lowering the engine’s RPM when cruising at speed and is good for as much as 25 MPG on the highway.

The 2010 model retains the majority of the design features from the concept, and although the original was designed with aerodynamics in mind due to the fact that it was an electric fuel cell vehicle, this only translates into increased fuel economy for the gas burning production vehicle. The interior of the all new SRX is unmistakably Cadillac, finished with premium materials and completed in style just like the CTS luxury sport sedan.

2010 Cadillac CTS Sport Wagon

Cadillac is getting serious about the European market, and that’s evident with the new 2010 CTS Sport Wagon. While wagons have not always been the preference for North American customers, the extra space finds favor with European customers. The wagon was a natural evolution for Cadillac considering the CTS was designed to compete with sedans from Germany such as the Audi A4 and the BMW 3-Series. The more aggressive lines suggest that the CTS Sport Wagon is going after A4 Avant customers.

The base engine in North America will be the 3.6-liter 263 horsepower V-6. Optional will be a the 3.6-liter with added direct injection, which increases output to 304 horsepower. There is also a 2.9-liter turbo-diesel V-6 engine option making 250 horsepower for the European and Asian markets. The gas engine V-6 Sport Wagon’s fuel economy is expected to be similar to the peak rating of the sedan’s 26 mpg highway rating. All will be available with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission as well as all-wheel drive.

2011 Cadillac CTS-V Sport Wagon

The Cadillac CTS-V Sports Wagon, the last model from the CTS family, will make its world debut at the New York Auto Show in just two days. Sales will begin in late 2010.

Like the sedan and coupe models, the CTS-V sports Wagon is powered by the same 6.2 liter supercharged V8 engine that delivers a total of 556 hp and 551 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine can be coupled to either a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic.

The new CTS-V Sports Wagon will be offered with Magnetic Ride Control, Brembo brakes, and Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 performance tires mounted on 19-inch forged aluminum wheels. The exterior will be distinguished by an aggressive front fascia, a unique grille, a raised center section of the aluminum hood, CHMSL-integrated roof spoiler and a pair of 3-inch (76 mm) chrome exhaust outlets.

2011 Cadillac CTS Coupe

The luxury arm of General Motors, Cadillac has added a sportier new model to their CTS lineup of midsize vehicles. Cadillac showed off the CTS Coupe Concept back in 2008 at the Detroit Auto Show and following much of the same lines, the new model is set to go on sale in the spring of 2010, with a more powerful V-Series version later on in the year.
The Cadillac CTS Coupe is powered by a direct injected 3.6 Liter V6 gas burning engine and is mated to a six speed manual transmission standard with a Driver Shift Control automatic as an option. The combination is good for a total of 304 HP sent either directly to the rear wheel or routed through an all wheel drive system. Depending on how you want your CTS Coupe Cadillac is offering first the Performance Package that comes complete with a set of 18 inch wheels wrapped in all season tires and is available for both the RWD and AWD versions as well as the all out Summer Tire Performance Package that upgrades your rollers to a set of 19 inch units as well as stickier rubber for a higher level of road holding. No matter which you choose, you are sure to have BMW 3 Series drivers gawking at you wherever you go.
Updated 05/20/2010: Cadillac today announced prices for the all-new 2011 CTS Coupe that will go on sale in early August. The CTS Coupe will be offered in a range of four packages:
Standard ($38,990 RWD, $40,890 AWD): Six-speed automatic with tap up/down shifting, 18-inch wheels, performance suspension, rear park assist, Bose audio, MP3 input, EZ Key, remote start, power driver and front passenger seats.
Performance Collection ($43,430 RWD, $45,330 AWD): HID Xenon headlamps, adaptive forward lighting, 10-way power leather seats, Bose 5.1 Surround Sound, USB integration, 40GB hard drive.
Premium Collection ($47,835 RWD, $49,735 AWD): Interior ambient lighting, rear-view camera, heated/vented front seats, heated steering wheel, wood trim, Bose 5.1 Surround Sound with navigation, sunroof.
V-Series ($62,990): 6.2L Supercharged V8, paddle shift controls, Brembo brakes, Magnetic Ride Control, 19-inch wheels with performance tires.
UPDATE 07/06/2010: GM announced that their new flagship coupe is already being produced at the Lansing Grand River Assembly Plant and, on top of that, they’ve bumped the vehicle’s expected shipping schedule sooner than the expected August dealership date.
