2009 GMC Yukon Denali Hybrid

Second GMC model to make its world debut at the New York Auto Show is the Yukon Denali Hybrid. The new model join the Yukon Hybrid introduced in 2008 and will go on sale in May at a price starting from $59,185 (2WD) and $62,030 (4WD).

The Yukon Denali Hybrid is powered by GM’s 6.0 liter Vortec V-8 engine with fuel-saving Active Fuel Management, late intake valve closing and variable valve timing technologies. The engine delivers 332 hp and a peak torque of 367 lb.-ft. It has a fuel economy of 21 mpg in city driving.

The V8 engine is combined with two lightweight electric motors packaged in the transmission; an electronic brake emulator that provides blended regenerative braking; electric power steering and an electric air conditioning compressor.

2010 GMC Sierra Hybrid

Top Speed had the pleasure of trying out a greener option for that other necessary item in any weekend racers garage, a work truck. Sure its nice to have a classic Ferrari or a an all out race car in your garage, but what good are they if you cannot get them to an appropriate environment. That is where our GMC Sierra 2WD Hybrid Crew Cab comes into play, this pick up can haul up to 6,100 pounds of trailer and seat six individuals inside the cab. Aside from the nice touches like the 18 inch chrome rims and larger than life front grill, the Sierra Hybrid has the benefit of being an alternatively fueled vehicle.

The full sized trucks 2-Mode Hybrid/Electric power train is tuned to get as much as 21 MPH when driving around town, impressive for any vehicle that weighs over 5,000 pounds. Don’t let the size discourage you, the Sierra Hybrid is easy to drive and the power adjustable front seat allows the driver to find the perfect vantage point.

The truck uses a combination of an electric module and a 6.0 Liter Chevrolet small block to make 332 HP, but you most likely won’t have to use much of those ponies, we found ourselves driving the Sierra around on electric only power most of the time, negating the need for any of the eight pistons. It was nice to know that they were there when we needed them like when passing on the highway or pulling a heavy load. One thing was for certain, the GMC Sierra Hybrid is working hard to give trucks a good name again.

2010 GMC Granite

The American truck builder GMC unveiled the Granite concept, a compact crossover with a unique opening arrangement similar to a German cousin, at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show. The GMC Granite Concept combines the same monolithic stone like design that General Motors brought to market with the full size Terrain, however this time in a smaller streamlined MPV style body. The new concept combines urban industrial design with everyday practicality and is aimed at young time crunched professionals. If the Granite becomes a production vehicle, it will become the smallest GMC ever. Powered by a boosted 1.4 Liter four cylinder engine and gas sipping six speed transmission, the turbocharged mini truck would make for a very efficient, practical and stylish mode of urban commuting. The exterior of the Granite features an over sized version of GMC’s signature grill with a pair of vertical LED headlamps that trail back into either fender and dare we say R8 inspired vents underneath. Add in an interior that is easy on the eyes, a brushed metal tip sticking out the center of the back bumper and cap it off with a 20 inch set of wheels and you get one bad little GMC truck.

2011 GMC Sierra Denali HD

General Motors unveils today details on the new 2011 Sierra Denali HD pick-up powered by a new 6.6L Duramax turbo diesel engine. It will be available exclusively for the 2500HD chassis, in a 4WD crew cab standard box configuration.

The new Duramax 6.6 liter turbo diesel V-8 delivers a total of 397 hp at 3,000 rpm and 765 lb.-ft. of torque at 1,600 rpm. The 0-60 mph sprint will be made in less than 9 seconds and quarter-mile in less than 16 seconds in 2500HD models. The engine is mated to a new Allison 1000 six-speed automatic transmission.

The new Sierra Denali HD is distinguished by a new, three-bar grilles and powertrain-badged louvered hoods, along with a revised, full-width chrome steel front bumper and a new family of 17-, 18- and 20-inch wheels.

Updated 04/09/2010: GMC today announced prices for the 2011 Sierra Heavy Duty Pickups that will go on sale this summer. Prices will start at $27,965 for the 2500 regular cab 2WD model and will go up to $45,865 for the Sierra Denali HD.

2008 GMC Sierra HD

GMC Sierra introduced all-new heavy-duty pickups during the ’07 model year. They were highlighted by all-new and differentiated exterior designs, two unique interiors and class-leading power and efficiency. They roll into 2008 ready for work or leisure, with minor refinements and enhancements, while still loaded with segment-leading and segment-exclusive features.

2011 GMC Acadia Denali

First launched in 2007, the GMC Acadia is being offered for the first time with the Denali line. The new Acadia Denali will go on sale in the third quarter of 2010 and will be available in both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive models, as well as seven- and eight-passenger configurations.

Acadia Denali is powered by a 3.6L direct injection V-6 engine with VVT mated to an advanced six-speed automatic transmission.

The SUV will feature a mono-color exterior (Quicksilver Metallic, Summit White, Carbon Black, Red Jewel Tintcoat or White Diamond Tricoat) and chrome honeycomb grille, chrome accents, body-color fascias and fender flares, mahogany wood steering wheel and wood accents, lighted sill plates and 20-inch, two-tone chrome-clad wheels.
