Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R by JAPO Motorsport GmbH

JAPO Motorsport GmbH is bringing back some unique old school style with the release of their Skyline R34 GT-R JAPO edition. Taking a 1999 R34, JAPO spent three and a half months stripping it down to its base and rebuilding it bit by bit using the legendary “Z-Tune” as a base. Some may remember the Skyline R34 GT-R “Z-tune” created as the 20th Anniversary model for NISMO (NISsan MOtorsports International) in 2004. This model was put together as a special edition and offered in a limited number of 20 vehicles. The same will be said for the R34 GT-R JAPO edition which will also be limited to 20.

The most exciting piece of information for the R34 GT-R is the modifications that were made under the hood. The standard 2.5-liter RB26DETT straight 6-cylinder bi-turbo engine has been worked over with an HKS treatment. Two GT RS turbo chargers have been added as well as an intercooler, elbows, half pipe, racing suction and chamber kit, injectors, ignition plugs, and cylinder head gaskets, all made by HKS. The JAPO Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R also comes with Stoptech brakes with 355/35 millimeter discs and four-piston callipers in front as well as 355/32 millimeter discs and two-piston callipers on the rear. This brings the R34 GT-R’s numbers to 516hp and 597 Nm of torque. The beautiful sound from the engine will be heard through the ARC-4 inch titanium exhaust system.

2010 Nissan R35 GT-R R1k by Switzer

The guys over at Switzer Performance are just plain genius. We don’t like playing favorites, but anyone who continuously attacks the engine of a vehicle and then transforms it into a road-kicking, exhaust-snarling monster is just plain great in our books. That being said, Switzer must not have been content with their P700 and P800 packages because they felt the need to add another package on top of them. Called the R1K, this package starts off with a base P700 or P800 and then adds giant turbochargers and intercoolers, new injectors, ECU, cooling system, new exhaust system, and a new transmission. Adding these components to the stock 3.8L twin-turbo V6 engine brings out a staggering 951hp and 804Nm of torque. Some may be pessimistic about this type of performance, but those guys need to check out the two videos provided.

The price for this package is just under $60,000 and that includes the P700 or P800 package. Although this price may seem a little steep for a tuning package, we all have to remember the power this Nissan R35 GT-R can produce. We would happily pay the $60K and the cost of the racing fuel to get this baby to 1000hp. Of course, we may not survive, but we would die happy.

2010 Nissan GTR by Koenigseder

It takes a very secure car to roll around in an orange paint finish and not look completely outlandish and ridiculous. It takes power, style, and attitude to pull something like that off. Thankfully, for this Nissan GTR, the Austrian tuners Koenigseder knew which car to pick. This Nissan GTR wears this extravagant color quite well and now it has everything it needs to pull it off.

Koenigseder began their tuning program with the Nissan and threw in a body kit consisting of a front spoiler, side skirts, and a rear bumper with an integrated diffuser. A KW suspension was then added and the package was finished off with 21” black wheels and Yokohama Advan tires. Some ECU remapping, a new air filter, and a Titanium Akrapovic exhaust system brings this Godzilla up to 580hp. This allows the Nissan GTR to get to 124mph in just 9.8secs.

Pricing for this package has not been released, but unless it’s absolutely and ridiculously overpriced, we think this program is well worth the money it will take to turn your car into a sexy beast.

2011 Nissan Juke

The Japanese automaker Nissan has revealed the first official details on it’s latest crossover, the Juke, a CUV that will be coming to America this fall, before the car’s official debut in March at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. With an almost identical design to the Qazana concept, the new Juke was designed to "inject some masculinity and dynamism into the small car market" with its chunky wheels, wide tires, extended ground clearance and robust stance. Meanwhile the interior features a center console that was inspired by a motorcycle’s gas tank.

The European market will get three engine choices: one diesel and two 1.6 Liter gas burning units. The most powerful will be the new turbocharged MR16DDT complete with technologies like direct injection to deliver a total of 190 HP and 177 lb-ft of torque. Then there is a 16 valve naturally aspirated unit that produces a more economical 117 HP, while the 1.5 Liter dCi common rail diesel cranking out 110 HP takes over duties for the alternatively fueled crowd.

The new Juke will be offered in Visia, Acenta and Tekna trim levels, with a total of nine color choices for the exterior, including two shades of white, both solid and pearl, and three other hues unique to the Juke: Force Red, Haptic Blue and Machine Brown. One thing is for certain the new Juke will definitely turn the small CUV market on its head.

Updated 08/11/2010: Nissan today announced prices for the 2011 Juke crossover. The car will go on sale in October and will be priced at $18,960 USD. The 2011 Juke is available in eight models, each powered by a standard 1.6-liter Direct Injection Gasoline Turbo engine rated at 188 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. Hit the jump to see prices for each of them.

2011 Nissan Maxima

Not much has changed for the Nissan Maxima since last year, so this little update will be short and sweet. For starters, in 2011 Nissan offers a new rolled edge tailpipe finisher, new smoked headlights (Sport models), new dark chrome grille (Sport models), and unique shiny gray interior stitching (Sport models). Nissan is also offering two new exterior colors; Metallic Slate and Brilliant Silver.

The 2011 Maxima will come standard with many little perks including a premium audio system, RearView Monitor and Nissan Hard Drive Navigation system with XM NavTraffic Real-Time Traffic Information and XM NavWeather (XM subscription required, sold separately), Voice Recognition and 9.3GB Music Box Hard Drive.

Prices haven’t changed all that much either. Last year the Maxima’s price began at about $30,460. This year the 2011 Nissan Maxima’s prices start at $30,810 for the S version and at $33,530 for the SV version, both on sale now. Both models are powered by a 290-HP 3.5-liter DOHC 24-valve VQ-series V6 engine mated to a Xtronic CVT transmission with manual and “Ds” (drive sport) modes. Paddle shifters are also available.

2011 Nissan Sentra

Nissan Sentra is entering the 2011 model year with a few more packages and some exterior modifications. The Sentra will again be offered in 6 models including the 2.0, 2.0 S, 2.0 SR, 2.0 SL, SE-R, and SE-R Spec V with prices ranging from $15,520 for the 2.0 version to $18,850 for the SL version.

The 2011 Sentra comes with a standard 140-HP 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine mated with a 6-speed manual transmission or a fuel-efficient Nissan Xtronic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission).

Some of the changes made to the 2011 Nissan Sentra are an improved EPA estimated fuel economy as well as the addition of a SE-R style rear spoiler for 2.0 CVT, 2.0 S, and 2.0 SL models. The Sentra 2.0 now comes with an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD) as standard while the Sentra 2.0, 2.0 S, and 2.0 SR will get Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) and Traction Control System (TCS) as standard. As an option, Sentra owners will also have the opportunity to receive the new SL Value Package, the Visual Audio Package, or the SL Audio Package.
